About Us
WHO ARE WE: Putt Preview is a small, talented software team located in Ridgefield, Connecticut, USA.
WHAT DO WE DO: We specialize in stick:ball augmented reality applications using the Apple development platform. We are currently focused on a golf putting application.
WHEN IS IT VALUABLE: It's fair to say that many golfers use their putter more than any other club in their bag. And, the legendary Bobby Locke coined the phrase 'Drive for show, putt for dough'! So, we believe, when you putt, you have a big opportunity!
WHY PUTT PREVIEW: Being led by a Lean Six Sigma professional, our decisions have their foundations in process optimization and analytics. Our priority is to ensure that the user experiences simple, efficient and high value interactions with our app while maintaining their usual putting flow and routine....easy, efficient, practical and high value.
Beyond coding, augmented reality needs to augment user tasks with high value, pertinent information, thereby promoting educated decision making. We believe this perspective is entrenched in our designs and unique among currently available putting apps.

OUR STORY: Many years ago, I walked a practice round with Mark McNaulty (World Top 10 South African Golf PRO, mid 80s to mid 90s). He putted every one of his putts, twice, and shot a 63 (probably picked up seven strokes on the round). I've never forgotten this experience... the first putt previewed the line, the second putt built his confidence!
My name is Russ Kalil. About three years ago, I developed prototype algorithms to allow pool players to place an iPad above the pool table, scan the surface for ball objects and track a pool cue in order to guide the player's cue angle. While the technology was successful, for various reasons, the app never entered field trials or went to market.
However, what the pool development did provide, was a library of valuable, high precision modules that could readily be adapted to other stick:ball AR applications.
And, yes, like many high handicap golfers, I three putt almost every green... So, in mid 2023, I decided to switch from the world of cue'ing to putting!... and what an exciting world we entered!
And now, a lot of rewarding hard work and a few provisional patent submissions later, fueled by the positive feedback we've received from both PGA Pros and golfing amateurs, we're excited to bring this novel technology to weekend golfers who, like me, dream of going even over a nine, any nine, some day !!
To lower scores, Cheers!
