Refurbished Devices

Putt Preview requires an Apple iPhone Pro or Pro Max, as these devices include the LiDAR scanner needed by the app. (Note: iPad Pro models are not currently supported.)

The app does not require cellular service to operate. All putting functions work without Wi-Fi or mobile data, and your most recent sessions are stored directly on the device.

While a new iPhone Pro offers the best performance available, many golfers choose refurbished devices at a significantly lower cost. Refurbished phones are available from Apple and a variety of third-party retailers.

Before purchasing a device, please review our Product Requirements page carefully. Putt Preview supports iPhone 13 Pro / Pro Max models and newer.

 

Using Putt Preview in Direct Sunlight

Bright sunlight can affect both screen visibility and device temperature. The following suggestions may help improve your experience.

Use the Blue or Green color palette setting:  The default orange palette may be difficult to see in direct sunlight.  Switch to the blue or green color theme for a brighter, higher-contrast display.

Reduce glare:  Direct sunlight can reflect from the screen into your eyes. Consider using an anti-glare screen protector. Available from Apple and other screen cover sources. 

During testing, we found anti-glare covers to be effective without affecting app performance.

Manage device temperature: Like many high-performance apps, Putt Preview can cause the phone to warm up during extended use in hot environmental conditions. iPhones automatically reduce screen brightness as the device temperature increases.  Also, see HELP & FAQs in the app itself.  Suggestion: Before heading outside, manually reduce the screen brightness to approximately 70%:

This reduces power consumption and may help keep the device cooler during use.
